Are you always looking for something more than what you have already done or accomplished?
Do you feel you could have done more, better, different?
Are you left with the experience of something is missing where you are?
The reality is that we live in a fast-paced world. We are taught that “accomplishment” means getting as much done in a day as you possibly can. However, too many of us don’t take the time to reflect on our accomplishments. When was the last time that you stopped and took a moment to celebrate and reward yourself? If you struggle with this notion, you aren’t alone.
When I was thinking about myself, I felt I am someone who always wants more. My desire for more doesn't get satisfied with whatever I do and that leaves me with the experience of being dissatisfied with myself. When I reach one milestone, I don’t appreciate or acknowledge that, rather I keep telling myself a way to go. I have a weird notion of being perfect, being the one whom people appreciate, applaud. I have set the bar so high that every time I feel being short of. I keep comparing myself to people around me, whom I admire or look up to. I feel I am way to far form where they are, when will I reach there or will I ever reach there?
Can you relate to this?
I FOUND ONE OF THE WAYS TO BREAK THROUGH THIS THOUGHT PATTERN IS *CELEBRATING MYSELF.*
What Does it Mean to Celebrate Myself?
Each time I put the effort into doing something, I will celebrate, no matter what is the result. When you’re feeling unsure of yourself, remember a recent accomplishment. Maybe you did something incredible at work, or you recently helped a family member. It can be as simple as helping someone lift a box. Recognizing this accomplishment and your ability to do it will instantly elevate your mood and allow you to channel some incredible self-confidence.
Are you ready to try this out?
Take time out for a little fun and self-congratulation. You deserve it!
Here are 5 ways to celebrate you!
1. Take a break
Taking a break can be as small as just taking a tea break or coffee break with your loved ones! Even that 15 minutes of relaxed time can a be a celebration if you make it so!
2. Write a gratitude letter—to yourself
We generally express gratitude for everything than our own self. Pen down all the qualities, strength and skillset you have and write a gratitude letter to yourself for having so much with you!
3. Unleash your inner child
Reward yourself with a rare moment of instant gratification. Has there always been an activity you have been dying to try? It can be eating your favorite food, going for a movie or learning something that you love!
4. Give yourself the gift of extra time
Wake up a bit earlier or go to bed a bit later so you can have some extra time in the day just for you. Drink a cup of coffee by yourself, read a magazine or cuddle up on the couch and watch your favourite TV show.
5. Give yourself a social media shout out
Write something nice, which you feel proud about yourself on social media handles. Share the happiness with people around you and it will grow!
